October 02 2025

AUBURN, Ala. - On Oct. 1, 2025, Auburn Police, with assistance from the Shorter Police Department, arrested Dion Jaquan Pickett, age 23, from Tuskegee, Alabama, for theft of property first degree.

The arrest stems from Auburn Police receiving a report of a theft on Sept. 29, 2025. Police met with a complainant who reported that a vehicle was stolen from a business located in the 800 block of Opelika Road. Dion Jaquan Pickett was developed as a suspect.

On Oct. 1, Shorter Police Department officers located the stolen vehicle in Shorter, Alabama, and Pickett was located in close proximity to the vehicle.

Pickett was placed under arrest for theft of property first degree. The suspect did not comply with police during the arrest, resulting in Shorter Police charging him with resisting arrest. Pickett was also treated for a self-inflicted injury that occurred while he was detained in a police vehicle.

Pickett was transported to the Lee County Jail and is being held pending review by the Alabama Department of Pardons and Paroles.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
